Ted Barben Honored by ISA for Outstanding Achievement in the Development of Revolutionary pH Sensor Technology

Carson City, Nevada, May 5, 2006− Barben Analyzer Technology LLC and Universal Analyzers Inc. are proud to announce that Ted Barben, company founder, has been selected by the ISA Honors & Awards Committee to receive Douglas H. Annin Award for the outstanding achievement in the development of revolutionary pH sensor technology.

The Douglas H. Annin Award recognizes an outstanding achievement in the design application or development of the components in an automatic control system from the input measurement through the final control element.

“This is a truly significant award in the industrial instrumentation trade”, said Harvey Mitchell, co-founder of Barben Analyzer Technology. “This ISA award reflects the spirit of exploration and entrepreneurship that characterizes many of the great inventors of today.”

A true leader in industrial instrumentation, in 1964 Ted Barben, along with two of his colleagues, developed a revolutionary pre-amplified pH glass electrode for pH sensors. Then, in 1976, as co-founder of Thomas-Barben Instruments in Carson City, he patented another reference cell using liquid potassium chloride, vacuum impregnated in a unique wood series that extended cell life in a pH sensor to well over one year in most applications.

In 2000, Ted organized Barben Analyzer Technology, LLC to market his new third generation concepts in pH sensor technology. Continuing the unbroken tradition of innovation, the Barben Axial Ion Path probe has been granted a patent for the revolutionary design that provides its quantum leap in ruggedness and durability.  Barben Analyzer Technology, LLC is a division of Universal Analyzers, Inc, founded in 1990, a manufacturer of gas sample conditioning equipment for the CEMS and process industries.
